This group isn't here to promote one scanner system over another, but rather to share experiences and give advice/opinions and trade ideas. In Florida one of the State Universities just purchased a large quantity of IO scanners and a few chair side mills. The graduates of the Dental program will be versed in these technologies. If you think about how gold foil and amagam techniques for carries treatment have gone by the wayside as newer materials have evolved, don't you think the same holds true for new impression techniques? With all of the debt recent dental school graduates have upon completion of their degree not all of them will be able to afford a full chair side milling system. The cost of a scan only outfit can pay for itself in the first year of use by elimination of traditional impression materials. This opens up a huge opportunity for labs willing to embrace this emerging change in the way dentistry is completed.
